Assiniboine Community College is currently searching for 2 certified ASL interpreters to provide interpretation to a student in one of our trades programs in the School of Trades and Technology. Under the direction of Chairperson, Trades, incumbents will be responsible for providing American Sign Language-English Interpretation to a Deaf student. Interpreters will also responsible for researching technical and course material; facilitating communication in classroom lectures, shops/labs, presentations, tutoring sessions, student conversations including small and large group interactions. The two interpreters will be teamed up to provide interpretation while ensuring the interpreters safety and well-being.
Incumbents must possess an American Sign Language-English Interpretation certification, memberships in MAVLI or AVLIC is desired.
Must have experience in Interpreting preferably in a classroom and/or Lab setting.
Demonstrated ability to process information with speed and accuracy
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Ability to work independently as part of a team
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook)
Cultural sensitivity and diversity

This position will require the use of safety equipment (steel toed shoes, safety glasses)
This position may be subject to audiometric assessments
This position may be required to work evenings
